GaugePilot
GaugePilot is a new multi-purpose computerised instrument for the classic motorist and rally participant. It also has great benefits for the classic car racer. Apart from its ability to provide real-time calculations about mileage and average speeds, stop watches allow stage times to be monitored. The instrument also collects both short and long-term engine and other performance data, comparing them against user pre-set danger warnings levels and will alert the driver via audible and visual alerts – of vital importance as all owners of classic cars will know (sometimes to their cost).
To make sure that its LCD display can be clearly read in all light conditions, Nigel Cousins, Director of system developer Hambly Industries, asked Siltint to apply its high performance antireflection coating to both sides of the acrylic period styled bubble screen. As well as the ultra-low reflection the screen has the added benefit of an easy to clean water and oil repellent top coat.
Following real life testing on the Historique Monte Carlo Rally, the Mille Miglia and the Trans America Challenge Nigel said “Clarity is everything, when it comes to vehicle instrumentation, if you can’t see it, you cant react. There is a fine line between success and failure. The Siltint antireflective coating out performed all other coatings we tested over more than 10,000 miles of in competition trials. The team at Siltint understood our requirements, identified a solution and delivered efficiently and expediently”.
GaugePilot will be at the Goodwood Revival on Stand 42 trackside in the vibrant Market Square.
